Banking

If you’re staying in Taiwan for an extended period of time, it might be more convenient for you to open up a local bank account. Although some foreign banks have branches in Taiwan, some ATMs might not accept foreign credit or debit cards. Opening a local bank account could also avoid  currency conversion fees.

We strongly suggest you open an account at the post office across the NCCU main gate, or First Bank (第一銀行) as NCCU does most transactions with students who receive scholarship grants, wages, refunds etc. via these two financial institutions.

Postal Account

The postal office provides services, including delivery of mail, postal savings, remittance, and simple life insurance. It also offers limited banking services. To open a postal account in the postal office, please go to any postal offices with the following items ready:

  1. New Account Application Form
  2. Alien Resident Certificate (ARC)
  3. Valid Passport
